It’s not really my scene but I went anyway. Here are some cool pics.

I was really hoping for some Citroëns and maybe some of those big ol Delahayes and whatnot. But the French just were not in attendance. Very sad. Plenty of bloody MGs though.

I forget what these are. But they’re both achingly cool.

“Dodge Brothers” limousine, adorned with “DB” badges. As an Australian who knows little of the history of Dodge, I was fascinated

Elfin! Maker of Australian race cars. Was far lower in real life than the pic quite conveys

Some sort of HDT improved Statesman, disgustingly clean

The show had TWO Ro80s! Apparently some 191 came to Australia, it seems a few survived

Mazda badges on the rotar housing, because of course

Have seen this Tucker before at Motorclassica, the only one in Australia. I actually looked straight past it at the Cord 810 next to it. Was flabbergasted when I realized the gravity of the car i’d been ignoring. I even saw its center headlight and thought nothing of it

Not much Citroen in attendance, but god I can’t walk past a DS

Crown Royal Saloon. Smelled of old car

Looks like a pretty good show.  The DS looks amazing.  I quietly keep those on my someday list, but I am a bit terrified of the upkeep.  Coming across a Tucker is rare anywhere.  Cool to see one.  Did you get a pic of the Cord?

Nice spot with the Tucker! I wonder what chassis number this one is? Very close by me (~50 miles) in Hershey, PA is a huge collection of Tucker 48s and related parts. The museum inherited the collection after the passing of the original collector. Also in PA, but in Huntingdon , are another two Tucker 48s, including the prototype. Somehow, Pennsylvania has ended up as Tucker mecca.

Amusingly, that Cord 810 may have been more related than you think; some of Tucker 48s used transmissions out of the Cord 810s and 812s after it was determined that the driveline setup that Preston Tucker was working on was impractical. The original concept had the H6 engine mounted sideways, with a torque converter on each end driving each rear wheel. One of the flaws; it didn’t have a reverse gear. Just a minor issue...

Nice seeing the old NSU cars, too!

Visit PA sometime! Seriously, we have five split between 2 museums here, within a 100 mile drive of each other... you’ll leave thinking that they aren’t rare!

I never get tired of looking at any of them though.

I love them. I wouldn’t own one I don’t think. But what a car, what a story.

Yep, there is one in Australia so it’s great to see it.

And no I didn’t! Once the Tucker took my interest that was it! I love those Cords. Technically it’s the creamy sort of car that can be seen in the background of the Tucker shot, does that count as a pic of the Cord?

There was another Cord in the public parking lot which I found interesting.

Oh wow! I had no idea. I guess a rear-mounted engine driving rear wheels and a front-mounted FWD are pretty similar. More so than the abundance of FR drivetrain cars from the era.

I remember the details of the engine issues, and I have seen the rather corny movie about the car.

Weird right! I’ve seen a third Ro80 recently in a shop , it feels wrong that there are 3 of these cars still getting around Melbourne. You’d think they’d be all dead.

Oh man I didn’t even know it was a thing until just now when you posted. I saw the “improved by HDT” badges and the MAGNUM badges. Was confused.

Apparently 100 built.

IIRC this car had a sticker on the back that said “Holden: driving Australia’s future”. Maybe that was true once...but now it’s the future and it’s laughable. Sad, sad.
